The activities listed here are primarily based on Kenya's coast as we've never travelled to the Tanzanian coast or Zanzibar, which are likely to offer a similar selection. Note, many of these we've not actually undertaken ourselves and so cannot comment on how they compare with the same activities elsewhere.
Tourist Trips

Dhow's are still used along the coast. This one's docked for unloading.

Wildlife Activities
Wildlife activity is not limited to the game parks - there's plenty of other activity at the coast. Of course you can always do a short safari from the coast to places such as Tsavo East and West, Shimba Hills etc and there are plenty of tour operators to arrange them. Be wary of booking from the beach vendors although we know of people who've had perfectly good safaris from them!
  • Haller Park, North Coast (just outside Mombasa). A safari park like we have at home - converted cement works.
  • Arabubo-Sokoke Forest famous for birdlife, butterflies and forest diversity.
  • Watamu National Marine Reserve including Mida Creek for underwater wildlife along the coral reef.
  • Kilifi Creek, for birdlife.
